Light on EarthI’m so pleased to attach a link to a performance by The Maccabeats and Naturally 7 on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial to honor Dr. Martin Luther King. There is the obvious satisfaction in seeing in perfect harmony (pun intended), Jews and blacks (assumed to be non-Jews in this instance, although not necessarily), two long time and natural allies in the fight for social justice. And it’s beautiful.

If I might preach as well, if you haven’t read The Color of Character, you should know that I quote and share Dr. King’s dream that one day we all be judged by the content of our character, and not the color of our skin or anything else. However, I add my own caveat, and that is: if you want to be judged by the content of your character, so that justice might truly prevail, then you had better develop some character. If your actions reveal a lack of personal integrity – a poor character – then don’t complain when you are judged accordingly.
